England Player Pathway
Although the Super Counties and Regional team systems do not directly feed into the England Player Pathway, players who take the opportunity to compete in these teams and at these levels will give themselves the best chance of improving their standard of play and being seen by England Academy coaches.
SEWLA hosts 4 of the 7 England Regional Academy centres. The entry level to the England Pathway is via a County Academy Assessment for U13 & U14 players. Teachers nominate players who they feel meet the required standard (technical, physical and mental) for a County Assessment and should they be successful, these players are invited to join England Lacrosse's Regional Academy. There are 7 Regional Academy centres across the country which run training three times a year (Summer, Autumn and Spring) and every April the 7 regional academy centres compete in a end of season tournament. Players can be scouted for the National Academy at this tournament and invited to a National Academy trial. The England U20 team is selected from the National Academy training squad and this team competes in the Home Internationals competition (held every year) and the European Championship and World Championship (both held every four years).
